Design, consulting, engineering and management services company Arcadis has merged with EC Harris, the London-based international consultancy and management services provider.

The two companies first announced the merger in October. The move includes the transfer of three million Arcadis shares, plus an undisclosed cash amount to EC Harris partners. The EC Harris brand will remain within the broader Arcadis group.

The merger sees Arcadis expand to 19,000 professionals – 6,000 of whom are in the ‘built assets’ segment – with leaders in Europe, the US and Brazil; revenues are expected to be in the region of US$3.1 billion. Globally, the combined company will be in the top five-position in terms of strategic advisory and project delivery services.

The Arcadis presence in Asia now rises to 700 people, and to 400 people in the Middle East. Furthermore, the new company has well over 2,000 people in the UK, propelling it into the top ten there and allowing it to expand its relationships with multinational clients.
